They’ve been called “the West, Bruce and Laing of surf music”.
Drummer Kenny Toye, bassist Dave Provost, and guitarist George Keller all have impressive resumes, but it’s their love of early rock and surf music that brought them together.
“We feel we’re channeling the high energy of Dick Dale’s live shows in the early ‘60s, when he was blasting out tunes through his Fender Showman amps”, explains Keller on The Stingrays aggressive take of classic surf and rock tunes.
“Link Wray, Dick Dale, The Ventures, R&B, movie soundtracks and obscure instrumentals, they’re all in the mix”.
Forming in 2017, The Stingrays have appeared as headliners and support act in venues all over Southern California.
